writer, co-director, producer
Christian Contreras is originally from El Paso, TX where his love for cinema was cultivated by the rich Mexican culture of a border town community. He holds a BA in Electronic Media with a minor in Theatre Arts from the University of Texas at El Paso where, in 2008, he won the national Kennedy Center ACTF Barbizon Award for Excellence in Lighting Design for his work in his school's production of Jose Rivera's, Cloud Tectonics.
Shortly after, Christian moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue his MFA in Film and TV Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts where he focused his studies on writing, directing, and cinematography. In 2012, Christian won the Subway Fresh Artist Competition where he directed and co-wrote a three-episode web series titled, Herman, about a loaf of bread who dreams of becoming an actor. Herman premiered at SXSW in March 2013 in Austin, Texas.
Christian is once again revisiting his love for puppets in his graduate thesis film, Para Ellos, along with Herman producer and co-writer, Victoria De La Torre. He hopes to continue making films that focus on the stories and experiences of the Mexican-American culture while pursuing a career in family entertainment.
Student produced at the University of Southern California - School of Cinematic Arts.
