Erik Howell believes that there is no greater truth than fiction and no greater fiction than in telling stories on film. For him, creating and telling stories and the great process of turning words into images on film is like magic; he looks forward to being a magician for the rest of his life.
Erik was raised in Northern New Mexico. He attended and graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies. In 2007, Erik was honored with an 'Emerging Filmmaker Award' from Las Vegas' own CineVegas Film Festival, a festival founded by the late Dennis Hopper. After graduating, Erik pursued his MFA degree in Film and Television Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He graduated in May 2012 after directing over ten projects including ones funded by USC and his own graduate thesis film, Of Sand and Sea.
Erik resides in Pasadena, CA and is constantly working on scripts and creating new projects. He currently directs episodes for the PBS television series, Just Seen It.
